The Sun is entering Scorpio as a type, and we, along with it, enter a new season of our lives. Scorpio is a sign whose depths are as unfathomable as the dark and forboding crevices of the deep sea, and the unexplored recesses of the human psyche. It is the territory of the fertile darkness where the seeds of the future germinate, the bones of lost cities are excavated, and where treasure and truth lie buried, awaiting discovery.
People tend to be afraid of the dark... the unknown. It takes massive amounts of courage to venture in such places (Mars), and we are guaranteed to return changed (Pluto).
As the Sun crosses the boundary into the Scorpion's den, it forms a T square with the co-rulers of this sign, Pluto and Mars. This was the highlight of our Full Moon, when the Moon also jumped into the mix creating a grand cross. The Moon has moved on, but the T square lingers, and colors the threshold.
There's tremendous tension in this configuration, suggesting that as we enter this season, great courage (Mars) and transformation (Pluto) will be required of us. Let's look a little closer:
Pluto is in the final degrees of Capricorn. Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the Sun, therefore we will not see Pluto in this sign again in our lifetimes. This is a definitive ending, a final sweeping away of certain structures within us, and within our lives. It is deep, and we are preparing for a rebirth as Pluto enters Aquarius.
Mars rules the North Node, it points the way to our future. In Cancer there is healing required, the work of which will be impossible without a Mars attitude. What are you willing to fight for? What is worth defending? You might be trembling with emotions of fear (productive or not), or rage (righteous or not) ... but forward march nonetheless.
Portal... initiation.... These words came to mind. The one that resonates with me most right now is Cleansing. I feel this is a time of cleansing. Something is being purged in order for us to release, heal, and move forward. There's Scorpionic muck that has us feeling stuck. It's time for a breakthrough. It's messy, and perhaps not fun... but here we are. Something's got to give way and adjust, in order that we can receive the gifts that we need to continue on.
Deep on the inside there's an alchemy that will grow us roots.... it requires us to own our indigenous mind, simple and instinctual. It requires us to look at circumstances (that might feel awful) from a more vast, spiritual perspective.
It will take courage and willing self-focus to tend to our own tender hearts, and with the Moon in Cancer today we're likely to * feel * it all... We're meant to.
